Used an Antique wooden ladder I found in a remodel dumpster. Clearly its been left in the elements for quite a while. I infused w isopropyl alcohol to kill any fungus or whatever, then liberally applied Polyurethane to seal & protect, leaving the age damage as is. I then mixed a copper paint with a nonpolar silver so it would pull apart & leave ridges and bumps approximating age..then did same on found lamps removed from 70s track lighting, then attached the shelves at angle as though the ladder was leaning against the wall. anyway it turned out much as hoped and will serve the client well in one of those now-ubiquitous industrial loft conversions
